Can Temperament be a Genetic Factor:

Like it or not - temperament is inherited.  That's why the "temperament description" of the Bullmastiff is written in the standard - it's indicative of the breed.  Again, some Bullmastiff Breeders may argue otherwise and still not incorporate temperament testing into their breeding program.  True...temperament is strongly influenced by environmental factors - but the core of this DNA trait remains, and those environmental factors are secondary influences.  Breed two aggressive Bullmastiffs with a high prey drive together and what do you get?  Puppies that you shouldn't want to bear the responsibility of owning.
