Questions to ask a Bullmastiff Breeder

Like any other breed of dog, the Bullmastiff is also subject to various eye disorders.  The most common seen in the breed is entropion and ectropion - but, that certainly does not exempt your Bullmastiff from having another type of eye disorder not mentioned on this page. 

Ectropion

Treatment - What are the Options?

Symptoms that your Bullmastiff may have Ectropion include:

  • Sagging eyelids
  • Lack of tear production
  • Exposed conjunctiva is red

Ectropion is a very treatable disorder and should be done as soon as the disorder is identified.  If treatment is delayed, this will cause long term, and sometimes irreversible damage to your Bullmastiff's eyes.  The surgical procedure itself - pending the disorder's advancement will generally run $50 and up per eyelid (4 eyelids total - 2 upper, 2 lower).  If your Bullmastiff is diagnosed with ectropion - help him or her live a wonderful life with their sight intact by getting them the proper treatment right away.

Although a bit "off color" from the traditional Bullmastiff standard, these Dudley Bullmastiffs still make wonderful pets!
